Good: Everpure ESO-7 Better: 3M/Cuno P-165B Best: Reverse Osmosis
Reverse Osmosis or RO is by far the champion of quality water! RO systems are capable of filtering out everything forcing water through a membrane to produce nothing buy pure water. Although not ideal for drinking, RO systems are equipped with an adjustable bypass in order to reintroduce the flavor minerals we want and reach our target tds of about 115 to 130.
In past years to achieve this older systems waste 3 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon (3 to 1 ratio). Today newer technology ratios are 1 gallon of waste to produce 1 gallon of water.
RO systems are manufactured to produce any desired amount of storable water. In other words prices vary. Expect to spend $850 to $5000 or more on an RO system.

The P-165BN is 3M's latest espresso machine filtration option which is much more effective, at 25% bypass, than Everpures ESO-7. The P-165B our Best Value and we highly recommend these if a RO system is not in your budget.P-165BN-T @ $214.95ea
3M NH3 manifold @ $67.95ea
Everpure's ESO-7 does a decent job to reduce scale and soften water for espresso machines. Its 40% bypass is designed to allow minerals back into the water to achieve the flavor profiles needed for espresso. Problem is that number needed is fixed.

Everpure's Insure-Ice i4000 produces the purest ice possible by reducing scale and other contaminants with its state of the art .5 micron media technology. Prevents unwanted ice cloudiness.

Pre-filtration or fiber filters are designed to filter out larger particles in order to save the life of your standard water filter. These pre-filters take on a bulk of the large debris and are very effective. Best part is, the pre-filter housing or canister are available in a clear color so you can see when they're discolored its time to change them out. We swear by these.
Fiber or Pre-filter available in 10" $8.95 and 20" $10.25
Pre-Filter Canisters available in 10" $35.95 (Clear or Blue) and 20" $71.75 (Blue only)
